Capricorn mod

I just recieved my Theory 1500 and noticed when I spooled up that it lay line alot more evenly than my capricorn. Now being the inquisitive type that I am I compared both the theory and the cappy. I noticed the theory had 2 washers located on the main shaft where the spool sits compared to the cappies 1. I have since added an extra washer to my capricorn and low and behold she spools up perfectly.

I checked the schematics of both reels and neither are suppose to have the extra washer. Just thought I'd let you guys know if you didn't know already.

BRILLIENT!!!!

That should solve my problems then.

Anyone got any idea why one of my cappies lays line in a cone shape ( /_\ only the other way around) on my spool and the other doesnt?!

cheers, Nathan

Not sure about the daiwas but the shimano symetre that I use comes with 3 washers and another 3 spare ones. The shape of the line depends on the number of washers with less ending up like \ / and more like / \ according the manual that came with my reel. Hope this helps. Cheers.

yer the same was happenin 4 my mates cheap shimano so i played around with the washers and now it lays the line perfect.
Its a great thing to no. Its to bad that not all reels are done perfect from the begining, or is it because heavier lines will lay different to lighter lines and thats why they leave it up to us to play around with

Excellent post Niz. Advice might come in handy as I got a couple of Cappy's about to join the stable.

Do the capricorns come with spare washers or did you pull them from somewhere else.

Wich opne is best

Should the line lay \ / like that or like this / \ cause my stradic comes with extra washers and played around a bit but keep getting tangles so in respooled and took my added washers of. Have had a chance to go out since but it seems to have layed the line better.

all this talk of | | 's turning / \ is reminding me of that jewellery ad where the woman uncrosses her legs when the guy shows her the ring.........
