"beginners" hardbody pack (Perth)
Ever since I picked up a Quinnie explorer 395 which I've been renovating, my mate and I have been kicking around the plan to fish the bream comps next year. I'm not exactly a beginner but I've been out of the game so to speak for at least 5 or 6 years now so I wasn't sure how to answer him when he asked what lures he should have in terms of hardbodies.
So I looked through my box and its mainly scorpion and laser pros that I was trolling for trout with. I have a few Ecogear SX40 and 48's, some rigge 46S, some diawa shads, megabass smolts x, a couple of khamsin jnrs and what I'm guessing are some R2S baby vibes. So I probably need to update / add to my own box and make some recommendations to my mate for his collection also. Between us we are going to throw $1200 -$1500 in the pot and get a selection of hardbodies between us for the boat. Given all of the above, what would you recommend to fill a few plano trays?

try not to buy too many varieties of lure otherwise your likely to spend more time changing lures than actually fishing with them |

What you have there isn't a bad start really. Maybe a few minnow patterns, topwaters and Blades to fill in the gaps. I'm a Ecogear man so I generally stick to those. MW62f, PX45 and ZX35 is what I'd recommend. From other brands I'd go with the OSP dunk, Daiwa 65mm Double clutch and 60mm Presso.

A big winner for me in general has been translucent greens.. each to their own however

I don't know about 'beginner' but I think if you want a 'be-all-end-all' box you gotta cover all ends. I'll start from the top and work down from there
.Surface: Bassday Sugapens, OSP Bent Minnows, Atomic walkers, Megabass Dog X jr. and Ecogear px45/55. Shallow: Ecogear sx40, Daiwa double clutch, Nories Laydown chigyo minnows, Ecogear mx48, Daiwa presso minnows and Cranka minnows/shads Deep(er): Cranka Cranks, atomic cranks, ecogear cx40hs, jackall chubby, Smith Camion dredges and Daiwa presso rolling cranks. Deep: Daiwa tournament spikes and OSP dunks Sinking: Cranka Crabs, ecogear zx and vx's, jackall chubby vibe, cranka vibe, strike pro hummers and micros and tt switch/ghostblades This should cover all bases, but feel free to add any lures to that box if you wish, after all its about confidence in the lure your using and the technique you apply to it. Thanks, Sam
