tough decision made and a score!

So here is the Murasame rod i was talking about that isn't meant to be out yet. The tackle world has connections with the rep and I have one of two in store hehe:roll eyes:. this thing is ultra light and strong. made by Lox to my knowledge and feels amazing in the hand with the new 2015 Luvius. i will post some more photos on the weekend of it and hopefully with its first fish.

That's some nice kit there, I'm legitimately jealous.

Well except for the mag seal part, Daiwa can suck a fat one for not making the oil available for purchase.

I have been informed by a fellow repairer that Daiwa will supply, not sure if it is to public or repairers only. Haven't tried myself as I have a substitute to use, but might be worth a call to them before making too much noise
cheers

haha thanks man, I know that a few tackle world stores have them available in the 6'3" AND 7'2" so you might be lucky and score one. but they aren't in mass retail just yet, just a teaser haha. Seriously worth it so far. they did the tip hold and pull test and it has the power to pull a strong fish if it wants. I will let you know if its the goods on Sunday when i take it out for a spin.

I've spoken to Daiwa and they have made it clear that they are nothing but a greedy guts.

(short version as I don't want to derail this thread)

I hate that test, I wish tackle stores would stop doing it.

Why do you hate that test? Does it give a false impression?

Yeah it does,i usually stick on a a reel and run some mono through a rod before i buy particularly if comparing 2 rods but most tackle store workers tend to pull down and away when doing the bend test which gives the impression a rod has more grunt than it really has.
cheers nereus

Thanks for the input I will keep that in mind next time haha. Well I hope I don't run into any troubles and if I do its my money back and an exchange for a better rod. But so fair zi am happy with it and hopefully Saturday I can put it to the test.

Yes.

It doesn't load the rod properly, and the pressure they put on the tip can cause damage.

Just a quick question on the murasame, I saw the rod today and I really like the rod itself, the only thing that worries me is the tip guide, did you have any problems with it braid wrapping around it when casting etc? I'm not convince with the tip design. Thanks!

Great question, the rod casts fine but depending on the braid that you use a windy day can wrap the line around the tip. I did encounter this this afternoon numerous times HOWEVER in saying that all I had to do is bounce the rod once and it was good again. It was a windy day and I am trying out this new braid so I can't 100% say its the rod. If you are thinking of getting one...it is a great decision. They actually made the reel handle ergonomic to fit your thumb and grip. The 7'3" would make a great flats rod. I have the 6'3" and for a marina/canal/small close structure rod its great and accurate to.

Some advice would be to buy some subtle braid that ties a small knot to fit through those micro guides. Thats the only thing I can fault it on. But everything you find about this rod when using it is something that often you can fix. E.g tying a smaller knot, using a more subtle braid and being more tip aware when it is windy.

Overall performance is great it can be a hardbody and soft plastic rod. It just has that action about it and it can put some hurt on fish if need be unlike most of the ultra thin rods. Biggest thing about this rod I reckon is matching the reel weight ratio. This will come into play with casting and overall comfort. Sensitivity is top notch! Seriously those little taps you usually only see...you can now feel with the ergonomic plastic/carbon whatever foregrip. You might have noticed that the blank itself is rough, that does smooth out just by rubbing it but its no issue. I can't really think of much else to say unless you can any more questions.

Oh and if you snag it you can rip it without it snapping and it can take a clumbsy tip bump (won't happen again haha) just be cautious as you would with an expensive rod. Thats just from my experience over one outing with the 6'3". But when you having been fishing ultra light rods for 3 years you can take a lot away from one session.

Thanks for the quick reply! I run .4pe on my outfits and tie fg knot to my leader which is not more the 6lbs. (always use 3-4lbs) the grip and micro were the ones I like plus the lightness of these rods. It's just that tip that i'm worried about being tangled every time when casting etc. I'll asked around if it's possible to replace it with a different tip. Thanks again!
