From my personal observations and experience: any 2000 to 2500 size reel with 10lbs braid, 8 to 14 lbs fluoro and locked drag

The x-ship in some of the shimano reels would help in making it easier to crank the handle on big fish going hard around structure. The bloke at my local tackleworld has had guys come in and buy the 3000 size stradic ci4+'s for murray cod. So if thats anything to go by, then even a 1000 size stradic would handle any bream of any size.

I use an exist hyper custom branzino for my heavier stuff, but I don't believe you need it. Most 2500 reels would be just fine, although I wouldn't suggest a stradic 1000 for it (nor a stradic 3000 for cod!)

Any 25XX sized reel does the job. I was using a sol 2000 but couldnt crank the handle fast enough to get big bream from out under boat hulls/pylons fast enough even with 10lb line and was busting off on the structure. I upgraded to 2506 emma and chucked some 0.8 toray on it and it improved my pulling power significantly without feeling like I'm using heavy gear. Of note, I had a 2500 sol for a while but it was too heavy and cumbersome for superlight or unweighted placcies in tight areas.

Having a second thought about the question I think a 2500 shimano (Sustain Stradic etc.) would be a good choice as it provides more cranking power than the equivalent daiwa due to the different gear ratio.

I use a 1000 sized FE for structure.

I've used a 1000 shimano (sedona ), 2500 stradic, 2506h caldia around the docks which is heavy mussel encrusted structure.

All work. If anything I'd lean towards the 250xs for the fact you can just plain retrieve line quicker. In my opinion leader strength and rod are more important factors than reel.

I've gone with a caldia 2506h and a daiwa pinster as my docks combo but was equally happy using a stradic ci4 2500 until I figured out they do the same job and I only needed one (I don't need the extra line cap or drag the stradic gives me so that's the one I opted to let go)

I use my high speed diawa's for all my deep and structure fishing:

2000 Ballistic and Caldia SHA - 6, 8 or 10lb PE with Pro Lure Clear leader
2500 Ballistic - 15lb PE with Pro Lure Clear leader

Both reels have excellent smooth ball bearing drags

Rods, i match the reels specifically to my shorter gruntier rods depending on the system. Normally it's a 6'4" 2-5kg or a 6'10" 2-6kg rod.

As others have said the 25XX sized reels would be my pick. I would also lean toward getting a High-Speed reel. I am using the 2510PE-H morethans for my snag fishing and they are well suited to the work.

The other advantage of the high-speed I have found is that with snag fishing the strike zone is small and right next to the structure (unlike flats fishing) the high speed gets the lure back to you out of dead water (after it is out of the strike area). meaning that your next cast gets in there sooner which on a drift might mean an extra cast or two at any given snag.

Size of the reel matters little, its all about line and more to the point, leader.
