Daiwa generation black 2-6kg or omen black 4-10lb

Hey guys looking at a new rod for my sustain 2500 with 10lb fins and normally use 20lb fluorocarbon leader , and was wondering if anyone has used the generation black 2-6kg or omen black 4-10lb and what do you think of them. Also with the generation black 2-6kg the 4 top eye let's are really small how do they go with the leader knots going through the guides

It will used be for sootys, barra's, flathead etc
Cheers

Learn to tie an fg knot if you go for the generation black rods. Rod is excellent . Light leaders are ok but heavy leaders need the fg knot or have short leaders and let it hang out the top guide.

Yeah normally use 20lb fluorocarbon leader but normally tie Albright knots, since they take a lot less time to tie for me

I'll put my hand up for the omen!

Quality stick with lots of grunt down low.

I like the reel seat on the omens as well and the guide train is larger allowing for leader such as 20lb easily.

Either way your getting a quality stick!

Just purchased an Omen 6-12lbs to chase mulloway using hb's up to 15gms on 12lb leader tied with a 4 turn surgeons knot. Have yet to hook up to test the rod but comfortable and light to handle and casts and works the lures well. Very pleased with the purchase . Wonder what it might have been like if I had got the Envy? Regards, HBt.

I've got the Gen Black, Omens and Envys in baitcasters (as well as 3 gen black spin). The Envy is by far the best. I think the 13 blanks are a lot more gutsier than the gen blacks with the daiwas being lighter in feel. I have the GB Pinster II and am not a fan of the micro guides with leaders greater than 15lbs, even using the FG knot so I'm more of a fan of 'normal' size guided rods now. You wont be disappointed with either choice I suspect - just try and get them balanced on your reel.

I have an omen black 1-4kg and a daiwa generation black 2-6kg and I have felt the omen black 4-10lb and I would have to say that the omen black is the better out of the two, this being because the omen black has a whippier tip compared to the gen black but still has a lot a grunt down low when you need it. (the gen blacks long butt section can be very annoying too)

Cheers
Brendan
