Squid Rod

Hey guys,

I'm after a new squid rod to pair with a luvias 2506. It's not something I do a lot so only really looking to spend around $120-150, but the megabass caiyen 83L on sale is so tempting at $250. A rod that is in the price range is a Major Craft Solpara, has anyone had any experience with this rod?

Is there anything decent around this price range or am I pretty limited? I'm wanting to throw anything up to a 4, but mainly 3.5 and under.

cheers.

value for money i dont think you can get any better than the solpara, after using cams i want one my self, casts really well, i think it performs best with size 3.0 jigs but shouldnt have a problem with size 4.0, also lots of fun with the pinkys!

There are a few other rods in the price range but i havent used them so cant say much.

I looked at the solpara recently as i had seen them for under $100.00
I asked around a bit and sought guidance from some pretty knowledgable sources. The word was that for the jigs i use, predominately 3.5s, the rod was a little soft and more suited to smaller jigs despite its rating.

Cheers for the replies fellas. I might track one down locally to have a feel of but if I'm not totally happy will just fork out that bit extra to get something I really like because I'm sick of losing money selling fishing gear!!

AVG the one for sale is a JDM model.Nothing wrong with it.
What would you recommend then.
If you need more precise information try the Australian Squid Fishing community on Facebook those guys know a fair bit.Everyone has their favorite brand.
Majorcraft do an xride model i haven't had a chance to try this out but majorcraft make some great rods in other categories such as bass etc.
Abu make a squid rod ive used their other gear like the bsf stuff and found the rods to be excellent.
there was some talk of Daiko rods being phased out if you can hunt one down OS you will be laughing ive heard they are going for great prices mate.
I had a Graphitleader which i found too soft.
JP Angler has a Megabass Caiyen 83M for a good price
