New Howler Custom

I just got a new Howler Custom built on a St Croix SCV stick. It's a beautiful bit of gear! There's something about good quality cork that, in my view, you just can't beat, even it is just a nod to the traditionalist in me. Got me all inspired to re-new my association with rod building after nearly 40 years away from it. Hope to start on my own new project tomorrow.

Intended use is with hard bodies for Bream. Rod is 7ft, 2-4 kgs matched to a 2004 Daiwa Gekkajibin. Fuji skeleton seat has been painted by Matagi and it has a Matagi weight system butt. I used it last weekend and just love it. Looking forward to building a cousin for it for plastics when the blank arrives.

Great looking combo mate,

How would you describe the blank, medium/fast or fast?

From memory the Howler's site lists those rods as medium/fast. What blank do you want to use for the SP rod?

Cheers

I'd say medium/fast. SP rod will be built on one of Mark Newcombe's ( Marks Custom Fishing) own blank designs that he got from Toray. I'll leave it just a tad longer at 7'2". It's due today, neighbours are wondering why I'm sitting out by the mailbox looking longingly up the street for the courier van! Pretty windy and starting to rain here in Warragul, perfect holiday rod building weather!
