I've heard a lot of people say that Shimano is best in entry to low range reels. I'm not so sure anymore.

Those Daiwa releases look good value for money at the entry level. Personally I think Shimano dropped the ball 18 months or so ago

One of them reminds me of the 2014 Caldia.. Keen for these to hit the market, i think they will do extrememly well if they have same features of some of the more expensive model reels.

Does everyone think these reels are better than similar priced shimano reels because they look pretty ?

The caldia is equivalent to a stradic I reckon, everything below the stradic in Shimano are pretty ordinary eg sienna/ aernos/ Sedona, symetre.

But the saros is respectable and good value which I reckon these would be on par with.
I reckon Shimano fell behind yonks ago unfortunately.

Fine me a shimano reel that has 8 bearings 7 kilos of drag air rotor and some kind of water tight seal. For 150 dollars ?? I can't argue this with complete confidence because I haven't put my hands on one of these new reels. But playing internet reels daiwa is murdering shimano with this release.
