Reversing line/braid

Done a bit of looking around for a simple way of reversing braid on a spool.
I have seen a method where you wind the existing braid from your spool to another spool/reel, then on to another spool then back to the original spool.

Just wondered if there was an easier/faster method?

Thanks
Trev

get yourself a block of wood, attach 2 plastic line spools (not reel spools) side by side via bolts (usually m10 or m8). notch out one end of the spool so that the head of the bolt sits inside, add a spring so you can adjust tension (and avoid overruns) then put a drill on one spool and transfer back and forth as fast as you dare!

Run it out on a footy oval then wind it back on under tension .....This packs it on as tight as you want , i do all my reels this way and never had o problem

in the great australian tradition of building things in the shed with inappropriate tools.......here ya go:

i just locked 2 nuts at the back after adjusting the tension.
you can also whack a new spool on and wind it on to the reel under the tension you want

just notch out some plastic so that the bolt head can turn the spool - or add some tape to the bolt so that it fits snugly inside the spool
i also cut out some large 'washers' from sheetmetal so the spring doesnt foul the spool

then just get socket adapter for drill. theres probably better ways but it works ok for something slapped up willy nilly

I don't think you will anything much faster or easier than what you explained. Sure the drill way is a bit faster but not much difference especially with small bream reels with not much line. You will still have some setting up etc.

The only other way I can think of that's faster is if you have a spare spool for the reel you are working on. Take off the spool with the line and find a way to hold it. Then wind the line straight to the spare spool and your done.

I use a couple of old Alvey reels. Wind onto one. Then to the other. Then back on to the spool. Pays to have a considerate wife to hold the other ends.
