The new Lox Ambassador Hybrid rods.
I see they're now available on the www.fishin.com.au online site. They're also listed on the Lox website.
They're available in two lengths 6'10'' and 6'3''. I had a little play with the shorter rod today at Ray Longs in Geelong and it felt good. They had the price of $275 on this rod. Apparently they did have one of the 6'10'' rods, but it was sold, so I couldn't feel what this one was like. I have no doubt the longer one would be more suited for bream fishing, whereas the shorter one could be considered to be more of a trout rod, perhaps. Here's a photo I lifted from Adam's site. I hope he doesn't mind. Is there any feedback available on this rod yet. It looks good. |

I can't believe the lack of interest shown for these rods so far. Admittedly they have taken forever to become available, but they're here now. Surely I can't be the only person on this forum who thinks they're interesting. Sure, they not at the pinnacle of rod bling, but they appear to be a good middle of the range rod that most of us would entertain the possibility of owning and using from time to time.
They're a skinning frail looking rod, I must admit, but they do have a lot of power. I tested one out in the shop and I was amazed at the pulling power it had when someone held the tip for me. I might have to buy one.

I am thinking of one too - I had a brief hold of one at the local distibutors a couple weeks back. Already have a 6'6 Yoshi, a longer one in this range might be on the cards

I've known about them for a little while now they definitely look the goods and are in a great price bracket, just I don't need anymore rods haha.
Love the grips and overall look big step up for Lox. And these are a completely different rod to the one BWJ reviewed in that thread the ones he was showing retail for about $730 and only a very small quantity were made, you can still buy them off lox for $730 but that's in Megabass ARMS territory don't get me wrong they are really nice rods though. The shorter rod does interest me as a stream rod for trout though and $275 is a very reasonable price. Last edited by redfinfisho; 08-08-2014 at 08:44 AM. |

In japan they use this style for dropping ultra light plastics and they work great for this but keep in mind the tip is gonna be real soft for other styles.
I had a play with a few in store and they had a non hybrid 3-6kg that looks and feels awesome more like a high quality 2-4kg bream rod. Same grips though which are nice. |

Even though some have a lure cast weight of 10 grams etc, its usually blades with the fast drop that 1/4 ounch is highest u wanna go. sometimes you need to drop the tip quick after lifting so it doesnt bounce. But they are excellent on lighter lures and cranks. And on light sinking lures you will have no issue muscling large fish on em. Thats when the x wrap comes into play. |
