Major Craft Volkey Basic v. Big Lake Custom

I've decided to spoil myself on a rod and had decided on a Major Craft Volkey Big Lake (VKS-70L BL) however it only comes in a 1 piece. MC also make a 2 piece Volkey (VKS-662), both are 2-4 kg rods.

I've has a play with the Big Lake version but not the two piece, can anybody tell how the 2 piece compares, especial in stiffness as I'm be using the rod primarily for soft plastics.

Is it the 5-10lb you're looking at? I've got one and it's pretty stiff, but not overly. I'd kinda compare it to a patriarch 4-10lb if you have felt that. It's a lot nicer than the patriarch though!

Pies I'm looking at the 4-8, though the Patriarch was one of the rods I initially looked and is about where I want to be, so maybe I should go up a little in line class

Like Bamm said. They're well suited to plastics. I don't use mine that much, but its bloody nice for soft plastic breaming.

My first one snapped on its first outing (6kg snapper was the culprit). The replacement handles bream and flathead just fine.

Sincere apologies, I just automatically associate the Big Lake with baitcaster so my mind went off without fully reading your post! My Bad.

However, as Piketronic suggested, the VKS-722UL is awesome.

No need to apologise, yes the 722UL looks great. I'm looking for a stiff rod and the Big Lake looks good but is over my budget ($300 for an import) . I was originally looking at up to $200 and could stretch a little but not keen to go that high. The 2 piece 662L can be had for around 230 imported and may be the one to get, do you know how the 722UL compares in stiffness?
