Structure Rod

I am looking for a structure rod, light HBs and stick baits as well as SPs around the snags and overhanging trees.
Mainly fishing out of the Yak and will be used for EPs also.

What do the members recommend, I don't mind buying something decent and my preference for rods is nothing to noddle. I like sensitive rods at present my fav is the Gekka AGS 6'10" but this lacks grunt for structure and snags.

Hey mate,

Have a look at the Abu Garcia Vanguard range of rods, I might be a bit bias but i've used most of the range and the 7' 2-4kg and the 7'3 3-4kg are perfect for this. I mainly like the 7' 2-4kg in the snags, it's super gutsy and is a good all rounder.

I had a 6' black label technical for a while and it was awesome. Not sure if that size is what you're after though!

I think a 6' to 6'6"" rod is the max length as it's main use will be kayak.

I've got the 4-10lb and I can tell you it has a lot of power down low and cast little light lures with the tip. A but if an older model rod but a good rod!

have a look at the 13 Envy 6'3" 4-8lb perfect for what your asking.

So that I don't tarnish your thoughts as I am affiliated with 13, ask 5am1eys or Nick_J as they have both got this particular rod and get their independent opinion on the rod.
Here is a link the spec of the rod for you. http://13fishing.com.au/products/envy-black

Good luck with your search.
Dale.

Short handles rods are great in this situation, on the lower end, something like a Berkley Drop Shot G4 in 6'10 etc is a great start. In 2-4 kg its a solid rod. Something higher up like the 13 Omens mentioned earlier with short handle would do well but i never tried them.

I'm not affiliated with 13 Fishing, but I can honestly say that I'm really impressed with my 6'3" envy, and use it for 95% of all my structure fishing. Really crisp blank, comfy grip, and it's a powerhouse.

I had reservations about the Kigan Guides at first, but I found them to be just as good as Fujis. No issues so far. Will definitely be adding a few more envy's to my rod collection.
