Rod maintenance
Hi, just wondering what other people do in regard to rod maintenance. I wash mine and wipe it with a soft cloth and put it back in the rack. Do others wipe them over with Inox or Mr Sheen or something?
Ive thought of wiping the guides with Inox but thought of the residual left. Anyway just wondering. Trev

I'm probably doing the wrong thing but I spray mine with water, shake them off and then wipe them with those disposable detol wipes. Going on 3 years now of bream gear and never an issue.

Run them through a hot shower (hot water dissolves salt better) and put them in the rod rack to dry. Zero issues and minimal effort.

Wash rods well with cold fresh water, dry with a soft absorbent cloth and then wipe down with a chux wipe sprayed with INOX.
Do the same with my reels straight after every day out with the exception that I rinse the spool and braid well under warm water before drying the reel and reassembling. I find the INOX makes the rod and reel repel the salt water and does not affect my fishing (well I hope not). Don't put INOX on the guide inserts. |

I Mr Sheen the rods every now and again - however since its dropped its one best ingredient 'Teflon' back in the day I find that it doesnt last near as long.
I Silasec my cork grips, to seal them from water ingress... So far so good - results have been perfect and no cork blackening!!! I may at times get a old toothbrush and scrub the guides after a long day of fishing as there may be caked on grime or that 'snot weed' thats dried on. Every now and again I spray a tiny amount of CRC 808 silicone spray on the top hood where it contacts the screw down collet, just to keep things smooth and stop it from grinding after constant reel removal. Rods that go back on the rack do, some rods go back in their socks or socks & tubes. No rods go back pre rigged or with reels on them. |

Hose them down, wipe with a sponge and then dry with a microfibre cloth.

If there is any crack on the epoxy coating on the foot of the guide, then some Lanox should keep the rust away. |

With cork grips I every now and then rub bees wax on them let it dry for a couple of days then wipe off with a dry rag. It seals the cork and gives it a bit more grip. |

I may be paranoid - but it makes me feel better if I keep INOX off the guide inserts. |
