Team Daiwa Z 2000CU
have magnesium components (the Rotor) are they suitable for salt water usage?

I believe the TDZ CU is not a salt water reel. There are other reels with magnesium that are salt water ready, but not this one from what I was told. I was thinking about buying one about a year ago but decided not to after my research.

Hey Glenn
Come on mate you should know, you told me that you have got one! remember bout two months ago!!!!!
They are an "all Purpose" reel, the CU in the name means not released in Japan and they are the only market (aparrt from the us etc) demanding enough to realease fresh and saltwater series reels. The japanese version is still an all purpose reel called the tournament Z C, instead of Team daiwa, they weigh about 5 grams less in each size than the Aussie delivered version. Other than that identical. The magnesium you speak of is coated during processing to stop corrosion, just like your luvius Glenn! Sensational reels apart from the airity, the best daiwa ever made, pure quality. Solid as and soo soo smooth! |

Shaun,
Actually what I told you was that I was thinking about buying it from Keith, get your story right. I did check with Daiwa who told me that the CU is not salt water resistant. And yes I do know the difference between Tournament Z and TDZ-CU and they used to sell TDZ-CU in japan too, but I was told it was discountinued last year.

Shaun,
One day I might just, but for the time being why the hell should I? I'm not in the mood of flaunting all my gear, I know what I have and what I have not. I'm not into showing off and if that's what you think thats your opinion. Just because you only saw two rods of mine and a couple of reels don't assume thats all I have. And I can't believe you get so caught up on what people owned. Worry about yourself don't worry about other people. If you want to sit here and argue what I say or didn't say then go right ahead, have fun. If you don't like that then so be it, no skin off my nose. Well that's going to the best last of my comment.

Definitely finesse....
I was using 4lbs fireline with 4lbs and 5lbs Toray fluoro on a pair of Luvias 2004 with 6'6" BD Bream Reaper and 7' BD Bream Reaper. I did also bring a Luvias 1500 with 6lbs but never used it. Most of my fishing was done with the 7' BR and Luvias 2004. Were you down at the comp? I'm trying to picture you.....
