Daiwa rookie
Thought I'd give daiwa another crack for my new Jew combo.
Don't really wanna spend big bucks as it will be my least used combo, so was looking at the sol in the 4000. They any good or what |

Yep tough as nails and don't miss a beat! Been using a 2500 with 24lb braid and it's been great.

I too have just come back to Daiwa. Got a few now, I must be weird. To be honest I caanot tell the difference between one reel and another, well from mid range to top end
![]() Anyway Plat in japan have them here: http://www.plat.co.jp/shop/catalog/p...r-fishing.html Probably looking at same price as MOT with shipping and handling though, without an Australian warranty........ I have purchased all my reels here in Australia now, paid more, hopefully the warranty is not needed, but nice to know it is "there:. In saying that I have not kept gear that long

A 4000 Daiwa is a lot of reel. Equivalent to a 5000 Shimano. How big are the jew??
A 3000/ 3012 might be nicer to cast for long sessions and plenty capable for jew. A lot of people wouldn't even go that size, preferring a 2500 Daiwa. |

Yea have a a stradic 2500 for em already, but this ones for flicking off the breakwall for em with a longer rod, around 9ft. Just dont like the feel of small reels on long rods. Also to justify it, it will be my backup small king reel. And the jew are anywhere from three to 20kegs Last edited by Normoh; 13-04-2014 at 06:48 AM. |

The old Sol was a workhorse. The new one seems to get good reviews too. I'd be going for the Sol over a Caldia. I'd rather have the metal body for the kind of use you're describing. |

Didn't know sols don't come with a spare spool, so leaning towards the caldia

hey mate, sorry to hijack, i bought a 4000 sol 2 last year in the hopes to use it for jewies etc but its never got the use it deserves as i foolishly snapped the 402 samurai it was on
id be willing to let it go for a reasonable price if your interested? its got new pe2 (24lb toray radius) that's been used about 5 times at most.pm if interested. Cheers, Glenn. |
