Should I or Shouldn't I??

Hi Guys,

As you know I have been buying a bit lately, replacing "old" rods with new Majorcraft Volkey's.

I only have a kayak, so taking rods for a fish is probably limited to 2 at at time.

I have a Volkey spin 1-3kg matched to a Daiwa 2004.

Also a Volkey baitcast BFS 1-3kg matched to an Alphas 103 Type-R

A Volkey baitcast BFS 2-4kg also matched to an Alphas 103 Type-R

A Volkey baitcast 8-12kg matched to a Shimano Curado 200 E5

I also have a Shimano T-Curve spin 1-3kg matched to a Biomaster 1000 (wife or kids)

A Shimano T-Curve spin 2-4kg matched to a Biomaster 2500 (wife or kids)

My question to you all, should I get a Volkey 2-4kg spin rod as well???? I will probably match it up with a Luvias 2506.............

My aim was to go back to solely using baitcasters for me and the spin setups for the wife/kids or if I felt that a spin outfit would work better.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers

Rob

The 2-4 Volkey is a nice rod. Mine was delivered last week. Sufficiently impressed. I'll probably get another in the not too distant future.

As a personal preference I can't say I'm a fan of strapping 2500 size reels on such a light rod though.

Bretto thank you for your reply.

Do you think a Luvias 2506 is too heavy/large for the rod??

I know the Luvias 2004 balances perfectly on the Volkey OverSeven 7'2" 1-3kg, very light weight and a dream to cast.

Love the K-Guides. I used to get a lot of wind knots on the other rods using the "old" style guides.

I think for what they cost, landed in Australia they are hard to beat.

Noted on the BC rod I received today, that it "MUST BE X-RAYED". Maybe they think I am receiving too much from Japan all of a sudden

Cheers

Rob.

Weight wont be an issue with the luvias but a 2500 size daiwa feels too large on my volkey, which is the 5-10. I suspect that's a preference thing though.

i fish a 2000 2010 certate on mine. Its a perfect size and weight to me. I've used my 2500 certate on it but it feels too large

I'd never say too heavy. None of the Luvias models weigh that much. For me, its just a size thing (personal preference).

Personally I think the 2506 is a nothing sort of size.

I'm thinking the same combo - 4-8lb volkey with a 2506 luvias. keen to hear opinions also!

The 2-4kg Volkey OverSeven is on its way

Thoughts for the 2506 Luvias or another 2004 Luvias. Maybe a 2004H, but I prefer the lower gear ratio reels.

I know the 2-4kg is only 4cm longer and 9 grams heavier than the 1-3kg version, which balances perfectly with the 2004 Luvias.

Trouble is, there are NO 2004 Luvias available in Japan

Cheers

I have decided to wait until the rod arrives, so I can put the Luvias 2004 on it and see how it feels.

I am sure it will balance nicely.

That being the case, will wait until the Japan online shops get them again.

Cheers

Rob
