wild dogs

holy crap! i was walking to check out a little bass hole on the bottom of my property. As I was walking to the top of the hill I spotted three wild dogs. The neighbours told me about them a few days ago after they killed a calf. One of the dogs are huge, and was dragging a dead goose across the paddock! wont be fishing there anytime soon!

Just take a squeaky toy with you, you'll be right!

Hey dude,

I run an eco consultancy out of lismore and have been contracting to NPWS for the last few years doing some dog monitoring/control around the northern rivers and yeah, theres no shortage of them at the moment. You should get in touch with the Northern Rivers LLS (Formerly the LHPA) if you have continuing issues and they can help you out. Alternatively, depending on the size and location of your property, I can come out to "sight in" the .243 if you bait them for a few days to get em to come around on time. Just as long as they're wild dogs and not a pack from a neighbouring farm

Some mates and I came across a pack one day whilst bow hunting. It was in thick scrub with nothing but saplings surrounding us. We were following a deer trail through the srcub when all of a sudden about 10m in front of us we heard a whole mob of pigs squeal and take off, followed by the snarling of the pack right before they bolted after the pigs. Both my mates jumped up as best they could into the only two trees that could hold somewhere near the weight of a small person (one of them who was about 5'6" and 120kg was actually doing the splits between two forked trunks which looked hilarious) and left me on the ground praying. Thankfully they bolted straight by us and kept on the pigs, still not something I'd like to experience again.

Not something you want to run into in the middle of the bush mate. The big cross-bred fellas can be very aggressive and should be avoided if at all possible. I will never forget being on a kayak trip on the Mann river about 8 years ago, middle of a storm watching a pack of 6 stalk and kill a full grown brahman bullock! Also been put up a tree by a massive crossbred dog in the middle of the bush. He proceeded to sit there for the next 20mins and watch me, until he got over it and left, thankfully. Very cunning creatures, hopefully you don't make a habit of bumping into them

If you got a gun, sling it over your shoulder on your next trip. Squeaking toys are a bad idea, they could think your food.

We had two set up camp down the back of our place for a week , they tore a steer to shreds and left it half alive and kept feeding on it. It got to the stage they were coming closer to our house and were incredibly vicious so I got a mate up who has a shooters licence and he took them out. They were huge and real bad news. They are a real problem in the rural/hinterland Ballina Byron area.
