Where I fish I've definitely noticed more activity around the full moon.

There is a hypothesis that the moon has a direct influence but it's not exactly proven. Google "solunar" and you'll find info on it - you can even find charts based on it which predict good fishing times. YMMV

Besides looking at that stuff ... Best thing you can do is buy a little notebook and a pen Take notes of your sessions - location, time, tide phase, moon phase, weather, temp, wind , water conditions , barometric pressure, what you caught, the technique and lure you used, observations like what baitfish around, any bream behaviour observed (holding high or low, seen or unseen, feeding - and on what? ) As you can see loads of factors and things to look for......keep it simple at first and pick just a few alongside time and location until you get into the habit. Given your question why don't you start off noting what the moon phase is and see if you notice a pattern over time ?

If you do that, you start building a picture of your local waters and your local bream populations. You also force yourself to analyse and think about what you're doing.

Other option is to just go fishing Depends on what floats your boat....

changes depending on which system i fish. i like the new moon more for the lake as the water is pretty clear and shallow. plus the prawns are more active around this time so everything is feeding. in the harbour though i have had awesome sessions on the full moon.

Okay, so since my waterway is renowned for prawns, and prawns are usually more active during the full moon, do you think I should use a prawn style lure/soft plastic?

I get good results down my way with prawn imitations at all stages of the moon.
When the prawns are around, the fish ain't too far away.
Interesting you say the prawns are active during the full moon. I find them more active around the new moon.

Your advice is rock solid. Unfortunately these day for me the best time to catch fish is when I have the time. I ust to follow your info and it worked at times and other times it didnt and it did my head in. If you have a decent sounder find the bait, match it and keep a note on the location etc. Everyone has their fav spots
