I think if you hold it as a non profit social gathering rather than a competition. When money becomes involved seems to be when things get involved and difficult.

Used to be an annual state of origin weekend comp between a brisbane based and ballina based fishing forums a while back but I think it has fallen away now.

Just used to run it out of the Caravan Park west of the highway. I dont think they did anything special, apart from teeing it up with the Van park.
