Night time Breaming lures or plastics?

With site casting out of the picture, is there any point to trying to get Bream on lures once the sun goes down ? Which ones would you recommend or best to go home ? I know early mornings are great before the suns up but curious about at night. Thanks

Hmmm, loud rattle or something that sends out vibrations in the water. The fish will know it's there, it's just if the fish wants to strike or not. If it doesn't well that's fishing.

Scents haven't really been working for me lately, unless I slime my lure with Pilchard.

The other night I kept fishing until around 9:30pm and only because I was amazed at how I was still getting bream in pitch black darkness, never thought it would be possible. I was using an Ecogear ZX30 in 414.

The fishing stopped because I got snagged...

You can get bream at night on lures. Remember that sound is important to most fish species and hence movement is what they are trying to pick up. Smell and taste and feel come after. It is not dis-similar to most creatures, including us.
For us, sight and sound make up about 70% of the sensoriums of our environment Smell, taste and touch come after. This is part of behavioural analysis.

Surface lures in tight to structure, SPs, HBs are all effective at night on bream. Some of the biggest bream you'll get is at night as that is the normal spawning period for them.

It takes a little time and practise to get used to night time fishing, however, when you do, you'll be able to really judge your casts well.

It is well worth the effort.

HB's that bump the bottom work.

Snag casting at night will take some practice!

Great posts all round ! Great info kamikaze. I will spend more time. Just need more patience. Blades would be good but snag easy. Hardest part was knowing where rod tip is when casting. Belted enough boat hulls I think. Plastics maybe to subtle ? Wonder how well Bream see at night ? Do they still sit on structure or do they cruise around ?

Not that I know anything but I'd think plastics would be the last option. Vibes and blades would be my choice. Other thing I've read is dark colours at night as it silhouettes better. Wouldn't be surprised if a tea-bagged micro in the old faithful colour worked.

PB bream at night - plastics .. big paddle tail, lots of noise, big rod lifts, use scent .. i 'think' scent helps and long pauses ... kinda against all the rules for bream fishing huh ?

PB jew also caught at night on plastics

so yeah .. plastics at night work you don't really need to see where your rod tip is. your sense of feel becomes more refined at night and you can almost imagine what your lure is doing in the water .. but you gotta spend the time out there when it is cold, windy, quiet, raining with no one else around lol

Thanks Tuan and Glenn. Rod tip = You do amogst pylons and near boat hulls, also to guage casting distance etc. My rod tip was telling me so each time it banged into something hehe

Yeah, i reckon paddletail plastics would be gun. Microvibes are too subtle at night a reckon, and thats why i asked if they still hang on the pylons and eat at night. Then they may work, out out in the open, blades and plastics would do well. I have a new pack of Fish Arrows somewhere. Squidgy fish would be tops as well.
