New from gomoku

I was in at tackleworld today looking for a part time job when a sales rep for the gomoku range from storm tackle came in. He bought with him three or four new models of light rods with green/black camo grips. I haven't been able to find any I of on the net anywhere about them but they look set to hit stores very soon, and he also mentioned a series of kayak rods being created by the designers behind the rods.

He also had a brochure with stick baits and poppers for gts down to the smaller 4cm popper already realised. No info as yet for release dates but some interesting new products have been coming from their stable of late. Keen to see what they bring out

Ive seen the Gomoku rods and they look interesting for the $$$ and a few jigs and a 2500 to 3000 reel which everyone would have in their stable and your in business. The rods feel nice and look cool.Ive seen some of the vids and it looks like fun.As for the Yak rods will it be Gomoku or a specific yak rod.

Chime in someone if you have more info.

the yak rod will be purpose designed from what the guy was saying, and gomoku seems to no longer mean just those colourful jigging rods but is becoming a sub brand which will incorporate a variety of rods designed for specific purposes (like the jigging ones) as well as lures. I picked up one of their jigs and 4cm poppers today and can't wait to give them a try. no idea what they'll be like.

hey nereus, how does your mate go about using them?

ive researched these extensively (everything in English anyway) and just cant fathom how you can jig a 120g with what's essentially a 8 - 16lb rod.

I'm definitely going to get the Green and Red to trial in the bay because if all these figures are correct they would be a perfect allrounder. Good for throwing 1/2oz plastics, crossing over to 45g slugs and then jigging 80g lucanus octo's. 6 ft 1 piece also good for on the boat. An to top it off will also look good paired to stradic fj's.

I think it would be beneficial to read EVERYTHING on this website before grabbing a Gomoku rod.
http://www.anglers-secrets.com/slow-pitch-jigging/
The style of rods is specifically designed for a certain type of fishing, slow jigging. They are not designed for casting, plastic fishing or anything but dropping jigs to the bottom. They have a soft tip that is designed to work the jig a specific way and isn't designed to hold load when a fish is hooked, the rod is designed to be used straight when fighting a fish and the reels drag is designed to do the work.

I bought a red overhead Gomoku and paired it with a daiwa lexa 300 bait cast (big spool, lightweight and 10kg drag). I have been using it off and on over the last three trips and have caught kings around 60cms, snapper 60cms (3kg), heaps of undesirable reefies, bait fish, bonito and dolphin fish. The strike trigger is the moment the jig 'falls' that is when they strike. It's quite different fishing but very effective. The most effective jigs I have been using have been 40g but I have just purchased some 120-200g jigs to try. The fall jig has been the most effective for me.

If you want an allrounder you should look at a different rod.

They are a great rod though and NS Blackhole make some really nice jig rods too.

No worries there isn't enough info around on these rods and the type of fishing it is designed for.

They also have micro guides to so light leaders are needed and won't be much fun casting. I am running a 20lb wind on for my rod n reel but I drop straight to the bottom and don't cast.
