i have no personal experience with it but the 6'10 pflueger patriarch 1-3kg rod is good for topwaters from what i've heard, as well as being a good allrounder

I use a lox yoshi 7'

generally speaking I prefer a slow action for topwater walkers.

I have used a 7' Millerod (control freak) for the last 3 years and it works a treat. has a medium to fast action. Works well with all surface presentations, from poppers to Bents.

+1 on the faster action rods.. been using an austackle 1-3kg camo stick for 18 months.. loved the blank but the components were rubbish. The reel clamp snapped on the very first twist over the reel!!
Anyway, just bought the old samaki zing 1-3kg (hate that the new one has the reel seat so high up the rod!) so I'll report how that goes.

Cheers
J.

Samaki Zecton phase II is my favourite top water stick, followed by the Zing. If you after a heavier rod to throw heavier lures then look at the Samaki Vamp phase II (which I use for oyster leases)

plenty to look at lol. im currently running a diawa tournament specialist bream 702ulfsoh for all my hard body work it belts everything a bloody mile so im really happy with it but theres the odd day after working wtd lures for a few hours it starts to feel a bit sloppy i guess is the word. little bit to much movement in the but of the rod. i notice it more when the rods pointed at the lure and im not feeling a tug through the rod with each stroke of the rod. if i can get my mates freams running smooth i'll be looking at a top water only rod to match and i dont mind spending the coin. all good suggestions to keep in mind when the day comes.

Medium/ med- fast action IMO, Nitro Powerbream and Ultrabream Finesse have a perfect action for top water.
Even the old Veritas has a great action for it!
