I'm buying one for cod and going the Daiwa Tatula ($199) and a 13 fishing rod ($169). Both have really good solid components and will cast heavier (re: not finesse) lures easily.

I just added another to the arsenal as a come here bass stick, mid range cod and light barra stick. Like Luke I went a tatula but put it on a 4-9kg gen black. Feels brilliant in the hand and casts like a dream, I can go down to 1/4 no dramas so something in that range is all you'll want for yellows. That combo with line, depending how good mates you are with the blokes at your local should come in between 350-400

for yellas that a bit overkill imo. i would go either a 3-5 or a 2-4.

Look into the Shimano range - the Caeane, Curado or Chronarch.
Very simple to look after and no funny engineering inside like Daiwa's offerings. Also easy to upgrade and modify drags and bearings as needed for the future. Bang for buck and simple self servicing you cant beat Shimano. |

3-7 kg gen black would be perfect. it feels more like a 3-5kg in my books as it is ment to be a finesse rod. They load up nicely with a nice tip on them
