2004 Exist

Hey guys, just bought my 2004 certate last week and am now wanting a 2004 exist can anyone that owns one tell me what they think of them. Are they worth the money? I have tried two in the shops along with the steez which is pritty similar, any way thought the certate felt smoother and more solid and expensive feeling and more free spinning then the exist . Is the only benefit to the exist its wieght?

For me the Exist is a BIG step above the rest
I have a Certate, a Steez and 4 Exists. Yes the weight is a lot less , but they are just super smooth and the Drag comes in to its own when you hook a big 40+cm bluenose....

just a hell of a lot more bling mate .. i am up to a Steez and have not made the jump any higher (exist/stella) because i can't justify it sitting there as i just don't get to fish enough

unfortunately you won't catch any more fish or any bigger fish with the exist mate ... you'd be able to catch that same fish with a stradic ... but owning one will give you the soft and furries so i suggest that you get it

most would classify the certate as a work horse and the exist more of a finesse reel .. both catch bream but it's a matter of which one looks better on your rod / rod stand LOL

You should buy 4 and be done with it.

You'll end up buying 4 anyway and you might as well do it now.

I have found my catch rate improve a fair bit after switching to high speed exists, I know it's not the model being spoken about here but they can definately help in certain situations, for me it helps extract large EP from snags before they get a chance to bust off.

Exists are not as free spinning as some other reels but that means nothing unless your in a free spinning reel competition

cheers

an exist serviced and gears only lubricated low viscosity oil with spin about 20 plus times.. put grease onto the gears and it might spin bw 6-12 times.

many factor dictate why a reel will free spin more revs. Handle weight being another reason.

but free spinning is only a party trick- lacks little practical benifits .. smoothness is what matters most.

Smoothness: I would define it as the lack of vibrations via knocking, grinding and other similar characteristics associated with gears and bearings function.

I'd probably need to correct myself slightly. The benifit of free spinning is the low start up winding and low winding enertia. This is what Daiwa die-hards love.

If you really thought the certate felt so much better then why do you want an exist? Just because its more expensive?

Seems any benefits of owning/using an exist would be lost on you anyway..

Never said the words so much better :/ All you can do in a shop is free spin it and turn the drag, I have never used on in the water so I don't know what its potential is and for all I know the ones I used could of been not the best example, thats why I made the thread so people could give me there view and experience of the reel since I'm a rookie and most of these guys are quite experienced. Manno, don't really think the benefits of owning one would be lost on me! Just owning a reel of that prestige is alsome. You could say why would a 50 year old lady buy a bmw M3? I think it is just the prestige of the brand and quality that anyone pays top dollar for anything regardless if they use it for speeding around or just driving around doing every day stuff in it. If you can afford it why not, right?
