2011 biomaster

I'm looking for a new 2500 reel for on my kayak chasing pinkies, etc. I was looking around PLAT and noticed the 11 biomaster for around $200. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these reels? I have been using a stradic ci4 but the salt water has stuffed it.

I was also looking at the caldia 2500/08 as it has magseal, which might be good to protect against salt water.

Cheers

I'm curious as to how these 11 Biomasters perform aswell. The C2000S model is what I'm looking for.

A feature that it is missing from the higher end reels is CF (Cold forged) gearing? Does anyone know if it really makes a difference?

I own a couple biomasters, and I rate them very highly. They are solid, always up to the task and can take some punishment. Nice simple looks and great price. I can't think of any other reel I'd buy at the price range you have found it for.

So if your not into fancy "bling" and after a realiable work horse Biomaster it is.

I use a biomaster 1000FB. Awesome reel. Strong, smooth and I like the slower ratio gears for my style. I think the 11 bio and FB are pretty much the same.

I was looking at the bio masters ci4's tidy myself. I notice that the 1000 & 2500 had little bearing slop - but the 4000 was horrendouse!

Same issue with the Stradic ci4 - can be fixed with a little work, no biggy...

Cheers for the feedback guys. Only issue I might have is the retrieve ratio. It blows up a bit out in the bay and retrieving slack line might become a bit hard.

I've heard it's basically the same as the FJ stradic, is this true?

Nah

The Biomaster is a bit further up than the Stradic FJ. Stradics are equivalent to Ultergras.
The Biomaster is more of a Sustain imo.

Sweet!

Does anyone know what a 'C3000' reel would be like?

2500 size body and rotor, just has a larger spool. In this case a 3000 sized spool.

C 3000
^Means compact.

Depending on the production year - simply yes. They run the same worm drive, some extra bearings and all that. Same as the Sustain in most ways.

The only thing that changes is colour, spool design, handle knob, cowlings, retrieve ratios, names and a couple of bearings here and there.

In total honesty I cant understand why you would spend $100 or more to go up another level, spend $60 in decent bearings and install them where needed.

To be honest mate, I spent the extra on the sustains because I have no confidence in my ability to install all 4 bearings without completely stuffing the stradic haha.

Just noticed the biomaster in the classifieds, so I've decided on that. Thanks for all your help
