Shimano

Hey guys just abit of a wrap for shimano after a good dealing with them
In no way am I sponsored or affiliated with them except that I use all shimano reels anyway
Just sent off a year old sustain that was playing up as it would become seized up when under load ( eg fighting a fish ) but under normal winding it wound like new
I sent it off with a letter explaining that the same thing had happen to my ci4 Stradic and they fixed it for a service fee of $60 but why has it happen to my sustain as well, as I look after and care for the reels after every use, I found it strange this keeps happening to different reels
Well it took 2 days from when I sent off the sustain till I got it back in perfect working order free of charge
I think that is really great customer service and made me feel great about using a great product
Keep up the good work shimano

Yeah never had to deal with daiwa I have nothing against them it's just my first reel was a shimano sahara and from then on I just always stayed with shimano if it was a daiwa then probably would have gone with them
It's just good to see its genuine customer service they are not out to rip you off with expensive parts and servicing plus they do an awesome job

I have both Shimano and Diawa reels and in my opinion Shimano is way ahead on after sales servicing.

I recently took two Fireblood in for services...and been told it would be done in 2 days. Kool happy with that...but after 4 days I called and been told the technician working on it and someone will call me the next day. OK...after another 5 days I called again and been told someone will call me again. After 2 bloody weeks I called again and been told that the technician still working on it and the two reels is on his desk. Now its been 4 weeks and I havent had a single call about it . Will called again and see what the deal. The scary bit is I dont know how much it will cost me. Normally dont they supposed to quote you the service fee, plus quote you for the parts replaced (if they have to be replace) then you would tell them to go ahead or not...In my case I dont find the customer service at Shimano very good. I run a telecommunication company for more than 10 years...I am very prompt with customer (they are the main source of my income) I would not let my customer chase me up. That not good customer service and put a bad image on the company. I also owned some daiwa gear just hope they are a lot better.

Yep they are cheaper and normally the turn around is a lot quicker than shimano

just to be fair to Shimano. After a painfully 4 weeks of waiting I just got my Fireblood back. They did a service on it, change all bearings and charge me nothing. I had a feeling it a manufacture fault or else they would have charge me something. Dont know and the technician who worked on the reels is unable to speak to me so I have no idea what the reels went through. Quality wise...I feel both reel is smooth but stiff, they have lost the smoothness that I love in the Fireblood...they feel like Stella now (which I dont like)...but may be it the new grease that need a couple hours of fishing to blend in. Well I am happy that I have my beloved collectible reels back...happy that it didnt cost me anything. So I went to see Adam at Fishin.com.au and bought a couple lures. Hope to put the serviced reels to the test soon

...

so, what was wrong with the fireblood (prior to you needing to send it in) and ultimately needing all bearings changed ?

can't complain at $0 though

People are saying great shimano service but why are the reels needing to go in so soon for servicing problems.
Sounds like not the reel to own.
