Samaki Zing Surf Rod 12FT - for surf casting?.

Hi All,

I've gone through a few articles and threads on Samaki Zing and read nothing but praises. I am looking at buying it but I have some questions. I'll be mainly fishing for whiting, salmon, tailor, bream any fish under 9kg.

I'm liking this rod and its specs and wondering if this rod with the right reel & line setup and technique it can help me cast somewhere around 100m even 100m+ ??. Has anyone used it and has been able to cast a mile or so with this rod?.

Here are the specs & website
Samaki Zing Surf 12ft, Line 12-25LB, Cast Weight 2-4oz.

http://www.samaki.com.au/fishing-tac...zing-surf.html

What light reel would be recommended for this rod my price max is $250.

Thanks in advance

That Reel size seems abit of an overkill ?, I was thinking more on the line of 3000-4000 spoiled with brad PE should suffice ?.

I've been looking at the Reel Stradic IC4 (4000) http://www.shimanofish.com.au/publis...radic_CI4.html

I was looking at the same rod - Samaki Zing Surf 12ft, Line 12-25LB, Cast Weight 2-4oz.

It was too heavy for general walking and casting and I bought something much lighter and better!!

Suits my Sustain 5000 and casts a fair way with a 40gr - put me where I need to be.
