Light rod to suit caldia 2000

Hey guys recently got myself a caldia 2000, and now need to get a rod for it.

Specifically around 6'6- 6'10 , and for throwing small plastics ( around 1/12 - 1/32 and bream hbs around, maybe 1-2kg - 1-4kg. Currently have it pared with a black label SSS 641LXS but its is just way too stiff. I had a look at the nordic stage sharpshooter and jaegers but they are a little too soft/parabolic for my liking.Did a few searches but couldn't find much information on rods between these two categories. Budget is about $250.

The Nordic rods are definitely worth a look. I chase yellow belly with the Gunslinger for fun, and use the Areal's for snapper in the bay. If you use Facebook, check out the obsession fishing page, a heap of Jack have been nailed on the Nordics, they aren't soft at all..

I run a 2000 Caldia on the Gunslinger and Jaeger, it matches very nicely.

I agree entirely.

I've got the Nordic 7'0 Sharpshooter and find it to be my ultimate perfect go to rod. It's quite stiff and makes fishing an absolute dream. I had it paired with my 2000 Caldia for almost 18 months before I upgraded to the certate.

I'm now running my caldia on the 2 piece 101 Samurai. It sounds like the samurai would be far too soft for your liking though.

Take the reel to a tackle shop that has the gunslinger or sharpshooter and put it on for a true touch and feel. I am almost certain that you will not be disappointed.

not saying that you need 2 rods but you will need to make a small compromise for an all rounder .. but seriously any rod will do, it's just how specific u want to be

for lightly weighted small plastics .. the 6'10" 1-2kg drunknmonky is pretty darn good for that .. maybe a bit fast for HBs though but will manage. lot of rod for the coin but grips feel cheap-ish. very light rod

samurai 101 on the other hand is perfect for the small HBs and also quite good for the light plastics but it is definitely not as fast actioned as the daiwa

6'10" black label 3-5lb is also a nice stick for light plastics and more in the $ range .. u know the quality since you already have the heavier 10lb model

I agree with the samurai 101, great rods, and they come up on here from time to time

check out a few of the new omen blacks 13 fishing have , great rod for the price! I have two heavier models 6-12lb and they can do anything , I could see the lighter models around 4-10lb being pretty good and I believe they come in 6'7 and 6'10.. they may even have the new 6'10 2-8lb out now!

If u want a light but strong rod with mad casting for light stuff, go try out a Gladiator Psyborg Rod. In 6'8 and 1-3kg.

ditto this

I've got the same combo and it's my favourite as well

Persisting with the Nitro Vapor 7 and Caldia 2004 but still prefer the lox

A Shimano T Curve T Series 691 Bream will fit your requirements. Pretty sure the current spec model is being runout in some shops to make way for an update version later this year.
