#0.3 PE vs 3lb FC

alright guys,

need all of you to help me clear something out.

I am using sunline salt water special #0.3 6lb but was recently told that i will be out cast in distance by 3lb FC if i am only looking for distance. is that possible?

same lure, same rod, same reel size, same over head cast.... is it possible for FC to out cast braid?

thanks in advance.

i wouldnt think so.
i have sunline 6 pound pe on a rarenium 2500 and 3 pound fc rock on a spare spool and when casting berkely scum dogs for whiting i found that i was casting the same distance ...maybe a meter further with the braid..

both spools are filled to the same amount and both have the same taper .

Hmmm good question. My previous experience has always been braid will outcast fluoro (but not by much I might add). That being said you can 'load' the rod differently with fluoro (due to stretch) and almost 'catapult' the lure a bit faster at times, but even this in my experience has not led to a further cast (and is probably asking for trouble in terms on line management).

3lb fluro being thicker and heavier than pe0.3, I cannot see how it will outcast braid. Obviously with braid I'll use a 2-3lb fluro leader which can be loaded with potential energy to catapault it the same as straight through fluro. The main advanatge of straight through fluro as echoed by many is that there is no braid to fluro knot.
