If you take the split ring off the front does it have the same action?

Practice. Its not that hard few short rips, let it float up big rip or just slow roll once you play with them its easy to work out.Awsome lures

The lure does most of the action for you. By quicken or sowing the retreive this will impart the diferent actions from the lure. Its really quite simple, the best thing I can recomend is a walk the dog style retreive where you constantly are twiching the rod tip.

Pirate Pete

It will only give the head of the lure a touch more buoyancy. So if you take the clip off it will bounce more head up on the retrieve. We do muck around with the clips to change the action slightly if we dont want the lure to go under on a certain type of retrieve, but mostly just leave them on .
