Looking at getting another snapper plastics rod but unsure what to get, I've narrowed it down to two rods, another bsr 852 glx or a st croix legend tournament , they are both 6-12 lb, and same length, has anyone used the st croix and what did you think, leaning toward the st croix because its lighter and has Fuji k guides but I'm not 100% sure yet, any help would be appreciated
cheers guys

I have a MH (8-14lb) st croix legend xtreme (LES66MHF older version with recoils) and it's an awesome rod, weights ~105grams and has some serious balls for it's size, very durable as well. Use smaller lures for jacks and small to medium barra, never feels under gunned unless you hook a freight train barra you won't stop anyway. Sweet blank for the price and well made.

I was(am) in the same boat as you and considered exactly the same rods as you. I started out with Megabass, Samurai, Millerods in the mix as well but was culled down to GLX and St Croix. Megabass was too exxy new, Samurai and Millers not sure about being in the same league as GLX blank-wise.
Ended up with St Croix but I wouldnt choose the Legend Tournament. I went with Legend Elite for the blank. The Legend Xtreme would have been nice but the blank is the same as the Legend Elite but with split grips and k guides and of course extra $$$. Figured standard cork grips and TiSics is good enough so I went with Legend Elite. Plus points for St Croix is that it is available in 2 piece and meant to be lighter in weight than the BSR852 GLX. Awaiting shipment of it now... Will put it to the test once I receive it and give it a full review write-up after that. |
