Custom Fishing Rods

Hey looking to get myself a new spinning rod and was just trying to compare what are the pros and cons of building your own. Does it work out cheaper ? Is it worth the effort? Is there much effort involved at all? Are there kits you can buy? And what price range should a 16 year old with limited funds in the kitty be looking at.
General feedback would be welcome

Limited funds = buy off the rack.

Works out dearer to build your own although the sense of achievement from completing the task, having a great fishing rod & catching some fish from it should not be under valued either.

Samuari have suitable kits that might suit you which are available from a certain Nthn NSW based online store, or used to be.

A mate of mine built a samurai blank with all the bells and whistles and cost him over $500. If your a beginner, start cheap and save your money.

Depends how far you want to go with materials.If you want to get started you are better off making a few cheaper rods to start off with and as you get better then use better materials.Not sure where you are located but we have about a dozen builders who meet every couple of months and they are only to happy to help anyone out.If your nearby your most welcome to come along.
