Straight through fluoro reel.

Having never used fluoro straight through before, I have a couple of questions regarding reels for this.

I just purchased a Steez 2508 and was looking at running fluoro on it but with the shallow spool was wondering if I would better running braid on it and putting fluoro on a deep spool like a 2000 or 2500 for extra line capacity.

Does it matter?

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers.

Doesn't matter if u have a shallow or deep spool with the shallow spool u won't have to put backing on it

2508 will be plenty deep for running fluoro straight through.

I run 4lb flouro on a 2506 and have never had a problem, so I reckon a 2508 would be no worrys.

tapered shallow spools were made for fluoro - that's what the marketing says anyway

check this link out: http://www.tackletour.com/reviewdexist2004pg3.html

can't remember if my 2508 is tapered (i think it may be) but i run toray braid on it ... just because i prefer fishing with braid.

however i have fluoro on my 2506 caldia and also on a 1500 daiwa .. i detect very little difference - both work as well as the other and have caught fish on both setups

Cheers guys.

One last question and this may sound stupid but can/does fluoro crush/flatten deeper down on the spool?

By this i mean when a reel is spooled can the underlayers become crushed/flattened under the weight/load of line on top?

how hard do you intend on spooling the line on mate ? lol

just dont spool it on tight like braid .. i.e. holding line with wet rag etc. .. just spool the fluoro on with light tension BUT not so that it stretches and she'll be right
