Hey guys,

Just a few questions to anyone who has these reels. I'm a few clicks away from ordering one but wanted to ask a few things.
- Do these have Hyper Digigear? I've been reading a bit of conflicting info saying only the Colossal has this. I've tried to find info on the Daiwa site but it looks like they've taken the info on this reel down considering a new one isn't too far away.
- If it does have Hyper Digigear, does it not feel as smooth to wind because of this?
- How have you found the reel when hooked onto bigger fish? I know its marketed as an egi reel and a lot of guys use them for bream, but how does the 3kg handle pelagics, jewies etc.
- What rods have you guys matched these to? I'm thinking of putting onto a DSR GLX.
- Finally, are they definitely worth the $349 price tag? Yes, no, maybe? Wait for the new Sol or Luvias perhaps?

I've never owned one mate but they do have the hyper digigear. I Find reels with the digigear aren't as smooth as reels with out it

Yes they have hiper digigear, 3kg of drags is heaps for Pelagics I'd be more concerned about line capacity. Is the reel smooth yes, do I love mine yes, should you get one aaaahhhh YES!!!!!!

Thumbs up Do it!!

Do it, Do it.
Just bought one and gave it a real workout on the bream, drag is silky smooth and so it the rotation, also quite light at 210gms.
Haven't hooked into a jewie yet but won't be too concerned when I do.
Definitely worth the current price tag.

well it has been ordered
i did a search of the site and on the net and read too many good things about this reel.
i was actually lucky enough to win $300 store credit at a particular tackle store on Tuesday so will only be paying $49 plus shipping for this reel!

They are a great reel but the only downside to them is line capacity ( but if you are chasing bream its fine) and the fact its a single element drag washer, which means it lacks the ability to increase and decrease your drag pressure at a finite level ( this is much easier to do with multi stack drag washer spools). Once again that should not be a problem chasing bream. 2508 spool have the multi stack.

All in all if you are primarily targeting bream you are on a winner. Absolute awesome piece of gear.

Cheers

Lee

I've got one the white one and it has Hyper Digigear.
In terms of smoothness, I can only compare it to my Caldia, Exceller and Fream and it's the smoothest reel of the bunch. (Also the most expensive.)

you will be stoked with it mate, loaded Super PE 8lb on mine matched to a 1-3 original dropshot. been battling alot of tailor in the 30-45cm with it and its very impressive. shines over a fj or ci4 stradic.

Nice little reel, I've got 2 of em. I have caught queenfish over a metre, plenty of barra up to 80cm and recently got a few spotty mackerel around 70-80cm on mine plus a few jacks, salmon and other random species. 150m of 10lb super PE it fits and I find it plenty for smaller pelagics, surprisingly my drag washer hasn't worn out yet!
