Berkley dropshop gen IV

I have an old GenII Dropshot rod that has been great as a back up that I can happily use as a share rod for friends without worrying about what they might do to it. Am looking at a new one and I see the Gen IV in stores. I heard the GenIIIs were almost a step backwards so am a little cautious. Has anyone tried the genIv? Would be looking at the 6'10" 2pc 2-4kg.
