Ive recently looked into coating my jig heads to the colour of my plastics. I have seen some Powder coats online but i'm wondering does it really work if you heat it up and dip it in? i cant really see that working? and if it did how long would it stay on for cause the stuffs quite expensive.

heat it up with a lighter and dip it in the powder will stick. if it is not hot enough the powder wont gel properly so reheat with a heat source until the powder has a smooth finish

You could possibly just use nail polish too, might be a bit cheaper

as sling has said plus you can bake them in the oven after dipping on 173 degrees C for twenty minutes. Just make sure you clear the eye of the hook before you do and also be aware that too much on the jighead will slip down the nose of the jighead creating a bulbous look and also clog the eye.
practice makes perfect with this and make sure you shake the jar to loosen the powder before you start and during the process. i have seen people using an air bed of sorts that blows the powder up and you roll the jighead through the powder for a fine finish. 1 last thing make sure you get enough heat in the jighead evenly otherwise the jighead will have bare areas with no paint. Good luck and have fun doing it. Cheers Gav P.S I do all my jigheads for Bass in the green. The brown looks ordinary. |

, it starts looking a bit strange when you walk out of a shop with a heap of Nail Polish in tow and your wife finds it.

The powder is only for jigheads. That's why I was asking about the nail polish for the Hb's

Yeah maybe not the prettiest paint for jigheads, but you should be able to find it very cheap if you look around and should be quite easy for touchups too,not sure about hardbodies as the solvent in it may damage the plastic,i'm pretty sure most nail polish is acetone based, and you can get glittery ones too

Just spray paint them in bulk. It's a hell of a lot quicker.
