Sorry, I'll re-phrase the question.

Does anybody know of retailers that stocks Daiwa Mag Seal Oil?

Apart from Daiwa that want your first born for a sample.

I think that daiwa will be keeping it all to themselves in order to make the most out of people who have these reels and require a service. Genius really. Evil genius lol

True Nagz. I imagine they would be a prick to pull apart and get back together. I'd just pay the $50 for a service.

If these reels are latest greatest Supa wiz bang and all sealed up so nothin can get in, and have the NASA invented mag oil stuff, how often would mag sealed reels need a total strip down and service from daiwa anyway! Provided said reels aren't abused beyond the scope of the reels design!

I think it all depends how quickly your magseal leaks out of your reel, which will happen. Sorry

Don't have a mag sealed daiwa at the moment, might just keep it that way plenty of top daiwa reels on offer that don't have the magseal!

The way I see it, any bend or flex will have an effect on the magnetic forces being applied to the oil and this MAY cause a small point of weakness in the magnetic bond. OR, if my high school physics serves me right, magnets weaken over time. OR there is a substance within the oil that is not magnetic. I just dunno. All I know is, it shouldn't leak. Is it covered under warranty?

I've got six magseal reels - four 2506's, one 2508 and one 3500, Caldia's, Certates and Catalinas. Oldest one was purchased in late '10 and probably has about 500 hours of use on it. All up maybe a total of a few hundred trips on the lot? They're on the kayak too, so cop a bit of spray - normal washing routine is just a rinse of with a hose afterward. I haven't had any problems at all with the magseal yet - none of them have needed a service yet, but I could be a minority

I dunno mate
I hope that oil leakage is never a problem
I'll never own a magseal reel, so it ain't something I'm worried about
I just have to admire the tactics that daiwa have used to secure the $ for servicing, coz I don't know anyone outside of daiwa that'll service one
