New Caldia [period] but the sols arent to bad, but saying that there are new ones about to be released also look at the Luvias DA custom they are around $295 at the moment and are a great bit on kit

I have the new caldia, the caldia kix and a sol. To be honest they are all great reels and which ever one u get u wont be disappointed.
If I had to compare them I would say that the sol is the smoothest but only by a whisker, they all have nice drag and are a pleasure to use.
I recently picked up a Ci4 complex of a BM member for a steal and it leaves these reels for dead, although it retails for a bit more so u have to take that into account.
I'm also waiting on a Luvias da custom to arrive from a another BM member so it will be interesting to see how it compares to the rest of my Daiwas and the complex.
As u can see I have a problem with buying reels,
might have to put a couple up in the classifieds soon.

Haha!! yeah it's easy to collect reels been guilty of that myself in the past, I have a shimano twin power not a bad reel just a bit of back play in the handle due to it being an older vintage, iam really happy with my sustain it's great for the money, and I just bought a Stradic cI4 feels good so far,but have read some guys not happy with there cI4 so far with use. Iam not a brand name person and will give credit were its due! So iam waiting to grab a couple of daiwas just for some variety in my reel stable!! Not so sure about some of the $500 + reels that's a STACK of money just for one reel, in saying that iam not meaning there not worth the money!!

Fair enough, after you wear in the Caldia there great plus there light and they can be grabbed for less than a sol. But each to there own, can you compare between a new Caldia and DA Luvias at all???

Have Heartlands and Sols, both good but i would chose the Heartlands over the Sols any day.

Also have Fuego's and Luvias DA customs and both are good and very comparable to one another.

My 2 cents.

Heartland was the most expensive and has the most CRBB bearings which probably counts in its favour.

Sol would be next.

Caldia and Caldia Kix sat below them had 1 or two less bearings, but I don't know where. The Team Daiwa Advantage is much the same as the Caldia.

I have the Advantage and the Sol. Sol is better, but not by huge amounts. Just feels more solid. If I needed another reel and could find a Sol I would be happy with it. Mind you the old Luvias is sweet too (I have a Fuego, which is the same as a luvias) and at current prices.

I'm not a fan of the newer high end Daiwa reels with the Mag Seal where you need to send it away for service.
Not sure about the Oil seal Reels and whether you could service them yourself.
But I'm lucky enough to have my reel situation sorted at the moment (my wife would say I have more than enough and she's possibly got a point).

Used/owned all of them and would recommend the new caldia. Bang for buck its the winner. Smooth, light, cheap and reliable. What more do you want? I managed to kill 2 luvias (one normal, one DA) within 6 months of owning them so cant personally recommend them to anyone, although i know people who have had a better run with them than me.

And dont get me wrong, I love my Caldia, as u said its much liter than the sol and is an awesome reel. I reckon the sol I got is one of the good one, its smooth as butter, just a shame its orange

From what I understand the SOL and Heartland are identical other than the CRBB.

A Fuego 'A' is identical to the Luvias DA Custom, the only difference is color.
