Which Leader?

Hi all,
I cannot find my leader line and I’ve searched everywhere so I’m just going to buy some more. How heavy should it be? Which brand do you guys prefer? How much does it cost? How many metres does 1 spool have?

Cheers

What ever you choose! Are you chasing bream or Barra. Salt or fresh, light rod or heavy rod. Big spool or small Sunline FC Rock in 6lb is around good stuff in 100 spools for $20 or thereabouts!

If you're chasing bream around Sydney I'd be going for some Sunline FC Rock in 4lb breaking strain.
This comes in 100m spools and should set you back around 17 bucks.
If I could afford it I'd buy some 6lb as well.

Lately ive been using my Toray Superhard upgrade fluoro (which I normally fish straight through and love it) as leader in 4lb and 6lb and have had absolutely no dramas. I don't fish super heavy structure so I like the added stretch over something like Toray L-Hard or Sunline V-Hard. As the lessened stretch in those two can actually cause it to pop on really fast shocks.

Funnily enough Sunline FC rock is only marketed as a leader here in Aus. Back in its mainland (Japan) it's sold as straight through hardened fluoro for mebaru fishing.

I use 4lb sunline FC rock for bream, salmon, whiting no worries at all

I also use vanish and they good line no problems.

FC is 200yards and cost $21.95 from Ray&Annes
But Vanish is $24 and you get 250 yards and thats only flouro line i use as leader and never had problems

And also a Unitika Aiger III which is made of a harder material than the Silver Thread.

I just found that unitika Aiger III 6 lbs FC (0.185mm) is actually thinner than 5 lbs Sunline FC Rock (0.190)

No brainer to me which one I'll be using from now on...
