Talking Cost Effective Braid

Hi all,
recently got a new 10 bearing reel from Tackle World. I'm going to go out and buy some braid just wondering which brand of braid you guys use or think is good. I'm not looking for any thing too expensive. I'm aiming to get 6-8 pound. Also, I'm not sure which colour to get. Any recommendations?

Cheers

Hey mate

I use Stren Microfuse and Fireline Exceed Crystal & Orange quite religiously and haven't had any problems at all. Both great lines for the price.

6LB Sunline Super PE for me is better than 8LB. 4LB Fireline Crystal is truly one of the best lines on the market anything lighter in the range is also great.

8lb Sunline Super PE.

Most versatile braid on the market and best value.

What do you mean by 'most versatile'?

I've used a few cheap braids eg rovex etc and tbh theyre crap. As everyone has said go fireline or pay another $10 for super pe. Fireline breaks at about twice its marked breaking strain. I heard of someone who land a 17kg jew on 4lb but that was 3rd hand info

Sunline Super PE. You can get it for $30 if your lucky and know the right places. Green or white. Hi-vis green to watch your line and white to be just that little bit more stealthy

Cost effective is a matter of opinion. But I agree with most here, Sunline Super PE is hard to beat.
I use 8lb and a 150m costs me $33.50 at my local. The green looks awesome on a Stradic FJ

Hi Fishing Addict,

Mate I use on all my rods nothing but Berkley fireline or exceed 4lb. Find the Berkley products fantastic value for money. Maybe give that a go .

P.S
Don't seem to get any wind knots either, where I ve been casting with other guys using various other brands with wind knot problems.

Regards Nordy

I use it in all sizes from 3lb to 20lb but I get some knots in the heavier stuff.
I do love 3lb though!!!!

IMO the most cost effective braid you can get would be at the higher end of the price range (bar a couple of brands), it almost always lasts longer, gets less wind knots and is more durable in general. You may spend a few more bucks to start with, but in the long run you will save money by getting a better quality line. Getting a good line that you enjoy using will make your fishing trips alot more enjoyable, nothing worse than a line that wont knot properly or throws wind knots all day. So whatever you budget is spend it all and a bit more if you can, you wont go wrong with brands like toray, varivas, unitika etc.

Most versatile, as in it is capable of fishing almost any application.
Strong and thin.

I use mine with 3lb leaders through to 20lb leaders.
