any advantages of twitching gulp minnows with a high rod tip over twitching them with a low rod tip??

when fishing for bream I generally twitch them up. I am pretty sure that when bait fish are dying they try to swim to the surface therefore twitching it up immitates this. When fishing for flatties on the other hand I like to do sharp side to downward jerks as this digs the lure into the bottom puffing up sand and mud drawing the fishes attention. Guess different people prefer different techniques, its up to what works for you

depends where I am fishing them. Around canals when fising with a 1/60th inner weight I twitch with the rod downwards. the plastic isn't hitting the bottom here normally and is already near the surface so it looks like it's struggling. when fishing a bit deeper or in more open water I prefer twitching upwards for the reason previously mentioned.
