Need some guidance on some daiwas
hello,
I just have a few questions on the daiwa caldia the new(silver) model. I heard that they had no roller bearing? If they dont does this matter? Has anyone had one of these for a good time period lets say 6 months and how is it performing? Just want to know because I am thinking of getting one or should i save and get a freams? The reel will be used to cast with pinpoint accuracy at structure such as snags, pontoons ...etc Will be pared with one of daiwas new range coming either a black label, generation black or a bream specialist. Thanks beeky

Hey mate I use a caldia 4000 for spinning from the rocks probably been using it for almost 4 months and it's still as smooth as the day I brought it. That's casting an retrieving 40g slugs etc hundreds of time a session.
It's true they have no roller bearing but In my eyes just one less thing to go wrong. If you werent told I doubt You'd notice it's sans a bearing. I also have a mate with a caldia 2000 and he rates it Almost as good as his certates. Hope this info helps a little. |

Most new daiwa has this plastic roller bearing my ballistic had it as well. I am positive it will work fine. You can always buy a bearing kit that makes it a real bearing. I have a 2004 and a 2508 caldia and have not had any issues yet.

Hey mate,
I have been using a caldia 2004 for about 8 - 12 months and I love it. I haven't had any issues at all so far and can't forsee any in the near future. Cheers |

I have a 2500 that I got second hand of a BM member and I love it, the reel is really smooth, the drag is nice and they look good to
![]() ![]() I brought my dad a freams for his birthday and while its a great reel for the price I would defiantly go the caldia first. Like was said earlier, look on ebay for the bearing upgrade kit if u want the line roller, although for $350 u shouldn't have to. It seams in the never ending quest for more profits they have gone the way of the spare spool. |

Roller bearings are over rated. You can't tell the difference! Better off without it so you don't get the corrosion issues.

Order one from Japan, way cheaper and you can order sizes not available in aus.

Love mine. Glad I decided to try a Daiwa reel. It works well for me on all the rods that I use and it comes with a spare spool ... but it is more expensive than a Freams. Good luck with your choice. Regards. HBt.

What do you guys out there think of 1000 daiwas? How do they compare in size to a shimano 1000?
