Budget rod

Hey guys I'm chasing some first hand info on a budget (sub $200) rod for throwing mainly soft placcies in the 1-3kg , 1-7gm range. I've done all the research and of the rods mentioned what peoples opinions are.
Samaki zing
Soft plastics raider
Austackle rods
Team daiwa z (not yet released tho but opinions welcome)

It's for the yak so I dont think the lox yoshi is quite suitable

Any others I haven't listed I can look into if anyone suggests.

Cheers in advance
Joe

Stretch the budget, go a 6'6 LOX. Sweet rod plus you get an awesome carry case that protects it too, they're the best value for money rod on the market IMO.

I have seen the Green Arrows on special for $199. Top quality fuji fittings (including Sic guides) on a high compression blank. Well worth a look.

Or, go for the GLX drop shot advertised on this forum. $200 for a $500 rod.

I've seen the green arrows but I think they only go down to 2-4kg

They do the green arrows in a 3 - 6 lb as well. Looked at getting one when I got my 6-16lb. Definitely have a look at them great rods for the price and super light as well

1/4 ounce is pretty heavy for bream. My rods all throw between 1/40 and 1/4 but they are $$$$ (not including bass rods)

I would have a think about exactly what you are using it for most often.

I think for that size you may a well save a little more and get the loomis.

Or save even more money and get a duff

Remember, just cause a rod is rated to a certain lure rate doesnt make it exactly correct. I have had it go either way.

Cheers
Chris

I'd say look at a Daiwa black label versatile 6'9" ultra light fast spin 2-4lb. I use these rods for most of my breaming needs. They cast light lures easy and load up fast. Can work HBs, SPs, and blades. You can get these rods for around $220 in my area. Fuji SiC guides eva grips. Very light in the hand. I have used these rods with anything from 1000 size to 2500 size.

Good luck with your search.

Mate,

No matter what anybody says, you cannot go past a LOX yoshi 1-3 kg.

You even get a cool travel tube for your money.

Closest thing you'll get to a nitro vapour for half 200 bucks.

for that coin look in to the pflueger range of rods mate , most of the range have great quality components and to be honest i dont think there are many rods in this price range that can beat them....
take the trion for example...
$120.00 gets you a 2 pce 1-3 kg rod
fuji alconite guides
fuji reel seat
7ft
hm graphite
etc etc

cheers brenz

out of the rods you have listed definatly have a look at the Austackle rods before you make your choice.
The 7' 1-3 kg Fireblade is perfect for what your after throwing heavier jigheads around, also have a look at the Camostik Dominator.

I was looking more for the lighter to unweighted jig heads 1/16th and under. With the lox rods i have read they can be a bit tip fragile and I tend to get the rods caught in over hanging trees in the yak.
Also has anyone tried asuza rods and are they in budget?

for $200 i would go for the Lox.
I had the 7 foot 1-3kg Lox for a while and it was really nice to use. It was quite sensitive, very light and could cast light and unweighted plastics very far.
I used to use this rod for unweighted pink grubbing and it was able to cast the plastics quite far - which was important as i did lots of landbased fishing when i had this rod.

There's a few Loomis rods you could get for around that price, or just over - but for unweighted i'd pick the Lox.
I have both the DSR820S INTL and the DSR820S GLX and i've tried pink grubbing with these rods. It's doable but better with the Lox IMO.
