Mounting a GoPro

Hey guys, getting my GoPro tomorrow and was wondering what everyone has done to mount it on there boat? Are you finding it better to mount it on a boat or wear it. Any info would be great.

Cheers
Tim

As noted i usuallhy use the Motorsport suction mount, and move it around ther boat to mix up the footage.. A few locations i have found it sticks are:-
On top of the Motor Cowling
On the Perpex Console Screen
Beside thge Electric at front ( Flat Spot)

The suction will adhere nicely to any flat smooth item, but be wary...it can work its way loose if time is not taken to adhere... Trust me i had mine come off the roof of my car 3 weeks ago...
I have puchased a dog lead from the 2 dollar shop for added security to tether off to a sound fixing...

I have also made a post for underwater footage out of a 1.8Metre rod., complete with a thread i have adapted to the end of the rod.. I then purchaed a GO Pro to Tripod adaptor and screwed this to the Rod.

This is ideal for release shots or to just drop in the Pedestal seat holes on the deck..

Its up to you where you wish to place the Camera.. But ideally you want a mixture of angles that works with your boat...

Use a pole Tim.
Because the Go-pro has such a wide lense it make everything seem further away than it is.
So if you have it mounted to the deck it looks like it zoomed out to far.

Also if you catch a fish make sure you hold it right up to the lense. Probably about 30cm.
Otherwise it tends to make fish look smaller than they are.

Also the good thing with the pole is that it great for filming when fish come up to the boat as well as release shots.

Check my youtube vids to see it in use. Just search Madeye Lures

I wraped some foam around my pole down the bottom so that it fits into the rod holders. Makes it easy to grab and then put back.
If you have lots of rod holders on your boat then you can play around with different positions till you find what you like

Hey guys,

I think i have decided to mount my GoPro on a pole for my boat. I was wondering do people usually have the camera slightly higher than there height to get the best results or do you have it lower or level?

Cheers
