I dont target them often - but the Victorian Blue Throats can put a bend in a bream rod

Yep. Same as above. I don't target them, but see plenty as a bycatch. The blue throats go alright on my whiting combo. At least they are easy to find so they would be a good species to go and chase.

there a very underated fish and are bloody good fun on bream gear. turtlebacks or 100mm wrigglers over shallow reefs are a great way of catching them and i would love to try hardsd on them soon. blue throats pull some line and are great fun trying to get out of the reefon bream tackle and actully are pretty good eating aswell.

Im yetto understand why wrasse arnt targeted more.
They are plentifull, hit lures, put up a good fight on light gear and can be found from boat or shore. Sure they taste like crap, but we catch and release bream anyways ![]() Long live the mighty wrasse. Send me a pm as im always keen for a WRASSE BASH ![]() Im laughing in this pic cause im getting "payed out" for wanting to take a photo of a wrasse

Never targeted them either but the big ones go hard. I think some European HRF guys target their species of wrasse.

Haha I don't normally 'target' wrasse as such, but i remember when I was a kid I spent a day catching Western Kings out of a reef hole at rotto on placcies. That was just when I was just learning to bream fish with lures, and still hadn't mastered it, so catching 30 or 40 wrasse on placcies was great fun.
