stradic Ci4 v Pflueger Patriach
G'day to all
just sold an old stradic so i was going to get a new ci4 1000 for about $225 but i have heard that a tackle shop where relatives live has the Pflueger Patriach 9525 on sale for $190 +10% discount for club members.so $180.im not sure what the size is like compared to a shimano 1000.does anybody know? but i think it about 20grams lighter. so im not sure if to buy a tested product with the stradic Ci4 (making it the 9th stradic in the collection) or go with a lighter reel and save myself $45. it will be on a pflueger supreme ast 1-3kg,4lb braid tossing small hardbodies-SX40's. i will take the rod if i do decode to go for a bit of a drive to the shop so what does everybody think? cheers |

Hi mate.
the 25 patriarchs are pretty well the same size as a 1000 shimano. the patriarchs are sweet as but I haven't used a stradic ci4 to make a well informed comparision. |

Just did a comparison, yeah they are petty well the same size, the only real difference is the patriarch has a longer handle. As for what reel to chose, IMO the patriarch for $45 less is the better option (I payed about $230 for mine). They come with 2 spools, 1 shallow, 1 deep so you can run your lighter line on the shallow and heavier on the deeper spool, whereas the ci4 only comes with 1 spool. Iv'e landed some big fish on mine including 66cm salmon that really gave the drag a workout but it handled it flawlessly.

My opinion, you can't go past Shimano and Daiwa. I have a CI4 and i love it so i'd deffinately go the stradic over the patriarch.

I have a Stradic Ci4 and love it. However, the Patriarch is a great reel too. The cheaper Pfleuger reels can have corrosion issues but the Patriarch is suited for saltwater use and will be great.
They both feel very different in your hand so have a feel of them both as well as on the rod and make the choice from there. It's worth considering the gear ratio too as I'm pretty sure the Patriarch will be a bit slower than the Stradic. Either way you will have a great reel! |

Pflueger!!!
Hi guys! M8 I would go with the pflueger! Both are light ect... I have used them both intensely and both perform exceptional as they should or the money however I still prefer the pflueger patriach 25, the stradics is good because you can feel the gears working well although with a lil grease and well maintenance the patriach in my opinion kills! Only query being small for a 2500 if you see that as a big deel! Cheers marcus
