Daiwa Heartland X Question?

Is there any rod that is similar in blank to the daiwa heartland x solid slim 6'6" bream rod out there?

The closest I've found is the (7 foot) GLoomis IMX 841-2, but even this rod isn't that close.

The only things I have seen that are a solid blank and slim in the butt section (but still powerful) are a Redington I tried out ages ago, and a range of rods from Japan from Kencraft.

Oh and of course the Heartland-Z solid slim! But they're even harder to find than the X!

Are you having trouble locating one?

Im guessing, but probably the HeartLand IM6, I checked one out in Busso (BreamMasters home) recently, not to bad if you ask me, cheaper than the Heartland X, but nice.

Warren uses 2 of them.

I've already got one, but would really like another - I know how good they are.
I can get one direct from Japan but the price is a little prohibitive.

I think we may be speaking of diff' models here mike.

The list price for the 6'6" solid slim graphite heartland cross-x on the Daiwa Japan web site is 27,300 yen, which roughly translates into just over 390 aussie dollars...

Although I previously mentioned I would like another of these rods, I'm more interested to know if anyone has come across another blank with the same qualities??

PS The CX model is also an IM6(7?) rod, so when you guys were talkling about the 'IM6', I didn't realise at first you were talking about a diff' model - ahem!
I haven't seen the IM6 model yet but sounds interesting.
The longest H'land Z is 6 foot in 1-3 kilo 'weight, if they were 7 foot, they'd be a pretty hard rod to beat.

Yes you are talking of different rods. The IM6 is part of the US line which is a significantly lower model than the solid slim Japanese line. The blank is hollow and noticibly thicker but with similar strength capabilities and the guides are the lowest model Fujis you can get.

Pukka - what guides are on the X? My Z has the Ti framed SiC (and the rod only set me back $199!).

By the way there are longer HL-Zs out there, just not in Australia. The finesse special goes up to 7' I'm pretty sure... just check out the http://www.daiwaseiko.co.jp site and click on random links until you find the rod section (lol).

Pukka, the IM6 these guys are referring to is, I think, Model HL602LFS.

I have that link already thanks Chris, and the finesse doesn't have a 7 footer as far as i can see, only 6 footers.
My X has fuji's, I'm pretty sure they're Sic's but they're a type I'm not familiar with.

I may just part with the cash and get another one anyway, they're such good rods.

The IM6 is a lower spec model, but still an awesome rod. Chris converted me to Daiwa about 4 months ago, and I wouldn't buy anything else now. I bought two for competing in the comps and they are beautifully balanced. I would agree that the extra money will give you a significantly better rod in the Daiwa range, but for $120 - $150, these are excellent buying and becoming scarce.

Rusty at outdoor sport and leisure in Busselton does have one left on his racks, it's a 6 foot model. Give him a call on 9752 4044 and tell him I referred you to him. He should look after you...

Thats probably the one he tried to sell me when I was there - tempted me as well, but they seem a touch higher priced down there .... I know there are a few at Anglers Anonymous in Canning Vale for $115 or so. May leave a bit of change to some softies with...... All this rod talk will me buying another couple in a big hurry.

There's real danger involved in actually going inside a tackle shop Richo.

I went to AA a little while back to see a relatively cheap reel and ended up playing with a combo in excess of $600. Unfortunately fear of the wife's reaction (the danger increases immensely after $500) held me back.
