what battery to use for 55lb leccy

thinking to set up a leccy on my boat..im currently putting casting platforms in it and carpeting it aswell. just wanting to know the battery..what would suit it i may run a fish finder too and if you know a price range. help would be great..thanks

I just got one instaled from the dealer and he used a 130 AH deep cycle marine battery, it works fine so far.

definatly worth while buying a good battery spend some money and look after it and it will serve you well also make sure you check out re chargers to suit the battery you buy

Think someone had a ctec on here for sale? Check the classifieds and just make sure it can charge the size and type of battery you intend to run before you jump in and buy it . I have one for mine it's a big one though and cost me around $450,good batteries are not much cheaper. I bought all my gear from battery world and they were awesome to deal with. HTH Roger

i cant remember how much i paid i got a good deal on a battery from a very generous member of another site who worked in the industry my charger i just went with a minkota just because it took out the guess work of what i was supposed to buy probably paid way more than i needed to

supercheap auto sell chargers you need to get one that is big enough to charge the battery you buy as well as have 3 stage or whatever it is so as that it charges it up then automatically goes to trtickle charge once the battery is full other members will have more knowlege on the exact terminology than i do c-teks are supposedly very very good chargers my battery from memory is a delkor 110v and thats running a 55lb min kota riptide on a 435 hornet trophy you will get a few days of fishing out of that usually though it will depend on conditions

i got a $60 automotive battery from repco about 3 years back, bought it to run my sounder in my old boat. Thought id use it to test out my bow mount then buy a new marine battery. But now, cant see the point. I have been out for up to 7 hours of fishing witht he bow mount getting a pounding and there is still plenty of go in the battery.
Im sure i will upgrade at some stage, but just thought id mention it incase you didnt have the funds and had something at home that u were unsure if it was suitable.

Agree with Ben you could not get a better battery than a Full river AGM. I have two 105 Amp/hr in my boat running my 55lb min kota and I have never even looked like using the other battery, even after two days running in ABT events. If you shop around you could get one for about $290. Make sure you get a battery charger that can charge AGMs.

ok cool thats what i was thinking i have a older car that i dont use and it has a brand new battery in it so ill use that bat for a while cheers man really helped me out yewww.

yer im going to end up getting a good battery and these full river AGM sound the goods.. so ill use one i have at home till i can save some cash to buy a nice bat. thanks for the help mate
