ok so now what

Rite well i picked up the new boat today a stacer 449 nomad.
I am trying to mount a live well up foward just behind the cast deck, can i run the pick up for the fill pump through the transom, will it pump the 2 meters from the transom to the tank? will it still pick up water while under way?
Whats the best place to mount the overflow i was thinking just to go from the tank straight to the side and place a skin fitting through the hull.
Finaly how big does the actual well have to be im thinking 60 to 70 litres.
Any thoughts would be appreciated as this is the first boat i have owned and the first live well i have made.
Thanks guys.

Re: live well capacity. I wouldn't go less than a 100 litres. Check the ABT rules regarding minimum capacity of live wells.
Have fun

yes you can run your pick up through the transom but it won't pick up while on the plane cause it won't have the suction to get pressure.

If your overflow valve in the tank will be higher than the water level outside the boat you can use a skin fitting if not you will have to have your skin fittings below the waterline so gravity can force the water out for you.

I did the same setup for my old tinny.
The pump ran fine pumping water from the back to just past midway to the tank.
For an overflow I ran a pipe back under the floor to a new hole in the transom.
No problem with water running back up the pipe to flood the tank or boat.
Very simple and worked well.

Have a look at the flow rite website for info on live well set ups.
