Anything dark that resembles small marron/jilgies etc - muscandine sliders have worked well for me recently.

I fish for trout with plastics pretty often, there are dead set gumbies for sp's.

Atomic make a brilliant 1.5" or 2" shad in rainbow trout pattern that just gets em committing suicide all over the place.

The atomic fat grub patterns are rippers also, along with the paddletails. Trout are highly aggressive feeders but can be a bastard to get on the hook. Vary retrieve patterns & speed if not working.

I have had awesome sessions, watching several fish following your lure right up to the bank. The sp's work an absolute treat.

There's a book recently published, which details all of the rivers in Tas with trout in them, very good book maps and all, highly recommend it.
.
Can't remember the name of it though. Just ask someone in a tackle shop, it'll set you back about $30+.

Nice fish Tom.

Still haven't caught a trout here in SA.

I'm back over to TAS for 2 weeks in Jan, to get onto a few.

They're almost as much fun to catch as bream

Especially if you're landbased.

Cheers

Bierdo
